The “Sky Smiley”

This evening, I just saw the biggest smiley ever. My sister-in-law and I were on our way home from our vocal rehearsal when a giant smile in the sky caught my attention. I immediately pointed it to her and we were both in awe. The scene was perfectly astounding. My sister-in-law and I almost had stiff necks from viewing this “sky smiley” from a moving bus.

I had no idea what it was so I texted the people close to me and invited them to witness the spectacular display in the sky. Little did I know that most of them had already done so because it was in the evening news.  Only then did I found out that it was indeed an astronomical event: a planetary conjunction. It has something to do with planets being close to each other. I immediately turned on my mp3 player and specifically chose to listen to  Arriving as I knew the first three songs (Indescribable, Holy Is The Lord, ad How Great Is Our God) perfectly captured what I felt about the scene.

You see, I have a thing for astronomy (not astrology, ok?) and I love stars most especially. Every night, I go out and look up at the sky and do some stargazing. (Well, of course there are times when there are no stars but I view the sky just the same.) That’s why I was especially excited with what I witnessed tonight.

The thing is, I didn’t know that I was in for an emotional ride this evening. I started to become teary eyed as I beheld the sky smiley. It just felt so personal. To me, it was as if the Lord Himself was smiling down on me.  Before I saw this phenomenon I was praying and thanking the Lord for starting to answer a major prayer concern. For a long time, I have been physically exhausted and mentally stressed.  A lot of things are going through my mind that I’m not really able to rest. I’m presently at a major crossroads and have been praying for what the Lord wills for me. Now seeing this big smile in the sky was like another assurance from the Lord. An assurance among other assurances. I was and still is overcome with awe and peace.

Indeed, God speaks in different ways…He even uses a smile in the sky!

(I got this picture from this blog since I wasn’t able to shoot my own. It’s hard to do that on a moving vehicle. Thanks to the blog owner!)
